Lambeth Speaks! | Gentrification – Good or Bad?

Apr 15th | 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm UTC+0

FREE

Are you keen to make your voice heard? Do you want to have a chance to reflect on the issues facing Lambeth in 2019?

Join us at our new ‘Lambeth Speaks!’ series, looking to discuss the issues facing our communities in a modern society here at Impact Brixton.

Our first debate will be about gentrification, an issue closely felt in Lambeth and wider London. The is an opportunity to hear from speakers on both sides of the debate whilst giving you the chance to participate and speak yourself.

The Debaters

Arguing in favour of gentrifcation is Alice Coombes Huntley. Alice is on oracy expert with over four years of experience in training university, secondary and primary school debaters in England and America. She has also represented the UK on a debate tour in the USA.

Tahmid Chowdhury is a local resident in Brixton, initiating Lambeth Speaks! with the idea of hosting regular debates to engage the local population to improve levels of engagement in the community. In his day job, he works as a Civil Servant in Westminster.

ABOUT Lambeth Speaks!

Lambeth Speaks! aims to give a voice to the residents of Lambeth and to bring people together to discuss important issues. We aim to help the local community by increasing political awareness, particularly of those statistically under-represented and less engaged in society and in politics.

Our goal is to debate issues that are important to you and are keen to get your thoughts. Feel free to join us at our next event!
