The Top 10 Places to Eat in Brixton in 2023

by | Aug 30, 2023

You can’t build a business if you’re not full of good food – and you can’t beat Brixton for a delicious meal! We’ve been based in Brixton for the best part of 15 years, so you can bet we know a thing or two about where you should go to eat.

If you’re looking to fill up on tasty food, here are our top 10 recommendations for where to go.

THE LOUNGE

We’re obsessed with The Lounge. From all-day breakfasts and organic coffees to homemade burgers, wine and beers, it’s got just what you need no matter what time of day you get there. Try the Caribbean breakfast. It’ll blow your mind!

THE JOINT

If you’re big into burgers or hungry for some wings, you have to check out The Joint. No fine-dining, just a messy sauce everywhere and ‘laugh with your friends’ kind of deal. It’s amazing – and if you’re in Brixton on the weekends, you can get brunch there too!

KRICKET

We loved Kricket when it was a shipping container in Pop Brixton, and we love it now that it’s a cosy dining spot nestled under the railway arches. Kricket serves a classic and creative selection of Indian inspired dishes. And it’s open late on weekends to keep the party going!

FISH, WINGS AND TINGS

This one is a Brixton staple. If you’re looking for locally sourced, seasonal Caribbean food, look no further. Order the jerk chicken and bop along to the reggae tunes – at Fish, Wings and Tings, the vibes are as good as the food.

THE COURTESAN

If you’re planning a romantic date night, The Courtesan is sure to impress. Put on your glad rags and head down to Atlantic Road for tasty cocktails, delicious dim sum and weekly burlesque shows, inspired by the legendary courtesans of Ancient China.

HACHA

Get a taste of Mexico in this stylish bottle shop and restaurant in Brixton Village. With award-winning margaritas and authentic Mexican dishes, at Hacha you can taste your way around the menu and take home a bottle of your favourite tequila. Ideal!

384

If you’re in the mood to try new things, 384 is the place for you. Take a friend and snap up some small plates to share, washed down with a huge selection of tasty wine, local beers and delicious cocktails. It’s great for gatherings!

LA NONNA

La Nonna is our go-to for days where you need a hearty pasta pick-me-up. Eating their food is like being given a huge hug from a friendly Italian grandma – and sometimes, that’s exactly what you need. The pasta is fresh and the sauce is to die for. Try the ragu, it’s delicious!

EFFRA SOCIAL

We couldn’t make this list without including the best Sunday roast in Brixton. Effra Social is a beautiful Victorian pub serving up the best in food, drink and entertainment. And it’s got a huge beer garden for those warm summer evenings!

SATAY BAR

Satay Bar is an Impact Brixton staple. We love their tasty pan-Asian cuisine and their fresh and fruity cocktails. Stop by for dinner, or head down for lunch. You can currently get weekday lunch for £10 – including a drink!

ORIGINAL FLAVA

There are a lot of old-school staples on this list, but Original Flava is new and not to be missed. Run by foodie brothers Craig and Shaun, their flavourful Caribbean food is inspired by the dishes their Jamaican mum and grandma used to make. Wholesome and delicious!
