Who, What, How – Developing Your Advisory Board, in a Nutshell

Your board of advisors (trustee board/committee members) can be a massive help – or a real hindrance… You want to make the most of the people involved at the most senior level, and they want to make the most of being involved with your board. Take away some top tips to help you recruit the right people, set up your board to suit your needs, and set a strong board culture.

This session is ideal for:

– Anyone who runs/helps to run a non-profit looking to develop an effective board of advisors

 

Reetu is a freelance consultant, coach, facilitator, trainer and grants assessor, bringing more than 15 years’ experience working with charities, social enterprises, and commercial start-ups. She brings expertise in funding, governance/trusteeship, strategy and business development, impact measurement, and accelerator programme design.

Reetu was on the founding team of two social enterprises; she’s also been a trustee at Merton and Lambeth CAB, The Food Chain and Impact Hub Brixton, and chaired the board of trustees at Stand Alone from 2013-2016. Reetu completed her MSc Management at Birkbeck University, in 2018. She’s now studying for a PhD in entrepreneurial networks.

This week we have Angela Gault with “Understanding and harnessing your habits”.

An overview of how habits are formed within the brain and ways you can create and implement positive habits into your daily life.

We frequently have desires to change the way we want to think or act to be a better version of ourselves, but this change if often short-lived and we quickly find ourselves back at the start repeating our old behaviours. This session will look at the key areas of the brain that play a role in why we think and act the way we do, understanding the key stages of a habit in action, looking at the role of our mindset, and how you can implement strategies to build more positive habits and break negative ones.

This session is ideal for:

– This is for anyone who is trying to build better habits in both their work and personal lives.

 

Angela is a Business & Personal Coach, Trainer and Facilitator and is a member of the International Coaching Federation. Much of her work focuses on supporting clients and participants in understanding the power of their words, mindset and habits to improve their daily life and future.

Angela’s background is predominantly within the third sector working in areas of youth homelessness, youth empowerment and international development, conflict resolution and domestic violence support. She has a Joint European Masters degree in Human Rights & Genocide from Kingston University & University of Siena and is currently completing a Post Graduate Certificate in Business & Personal Coaching.

This week we have Carole Stagg with “Savouring (Not The Food Type)”.

A way to build positive emotions, increase your mental and social functioning and lead a flourishing life.

Looking after our mental health and wellbeing has been recognised as paramount to maintaining good physical health, building resilience and strengthening our immune system. How can we maximise the pleasant experiences in life and get the most from them?

In this taster session (pun intended, although it’s not really about food per se) we can start to understand Savouring as a concept, it’s links with Mindfulness and the part it plays in reducing stress and anxiety whilst increasing meaning and purpose in our lives.

 

This session is ideal for:

– This is for anyone who would like to know more about building positive emotions and positive affect.

 

Carole is a Positive Psychologist, Coach and Mindfulness (MBCT/SR) Facilitator with over 25 years experience in the field of Mental Health, Health and Wellbeing. With a background in fine Arts (MA RCA) and Psychology (MSc MAPP), she has combined her specialisms to enable individuals, groups, communities and organisations to flourish.

She has worked with the public, voluntary and private sector including Mind, SLAM and various borough Public Health and Health Trust departments. This includes two years in the NHS, developing a Health Coaching Pilot and Service within GP surgeries and Medical Centres. She currently runs a private coaching practice and works as a Wellbeing Consultant.

Most businesses do not fail from having a bad idea or bad management although those factors do contribute to that. What usually kills businesses is cashflow!

They say that cash is king but many businesses ignore the obvious signs that indicate they are not going to get paid and that their businesses will fail.

We will discuss these issues as well as highlighting why financing is a good short-term fix but can become addictive in the long-term. We will then close off with some strategies to help you minimise the risk of Late Payment in your business.

This session is ideal for:

– For those who have an established business or start-ups businesses with no current Late Payment processes in place.

– Finance professionals, Finance Directors, Directors of Limited Companies and Sole Traders are also encouraged to attend.

 

Clayton M Coke FRSA is the Founder & Managing Director of PRMS Ltd a Late Payment Management company based in the City of London. Clayton trained as a Legal Executive and Mediator and has worked in Private practice Local Authority, Central Government as well as an in-house Lawyer.

Clayton is also the host of the Mr Coke’s Casebook video series, highlighting historical cases and the lessons learned and The Cashflow Show podcast where we talk to a business owner or entrepreneur and hear the tales of the origins of their business, their successes & failures and their future in the business world.
